J'Ouvert (since this is my third carnival, if you follow my blog you should know what J'Ouvert is by now, but if not heres the general idea: reach Town for midnight for an all night into morning street party involving 16 wheelers full of speakers blasting Soca music, while dousing each other in paint).
Yeah, what is going on? But J'Ouvert will always be my fave carnival fete. Highlight: this year along with a number of the other PCVs volunteered with the local Planned Parenthood to distribute condoms in an effort to educate and prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS (hence the Sex Nice shirt).
Monday Jump Up 2013, Directly following J'Ouvert. Once you reach home from J'Ouvert around 10 or 11am, you bathe your skin to get off all the paint, eat, take a nap and return to Town for 3pm to parade around Town following behind the 16 wheeler DJs in your "Band". Highlight this year: rumsicles.
