Caribbean Cuisine

Below is a collection of characteristic Caribbean cuisine, as well as some of my own concoctions! Enjoy!

Not exactly Caribbean, but delicious nonetheless.  Black bean burgers.

Roast breadfruit, part of the national dish
I used the leftover roast breadfruit and fried it with my eggs for breakfast.  Kind of tastes like a french fry.
Bananas, bananas, bananas everywhere.  These bananas came from my backyard.  Some are going in the freezer for smoothies later, some are being used for banana pudding pie, and some for banana bread.
Bananas that were cut from my backyard were placed in a box to ripen.  After only a week the whole bunch (about 8 hands, a hand is like a bunch that you would buy at the market) started to ripen.

One of my favorite traditions in SVG is Sunday Lunch.  Here I had stew fish, plantains, and rice with the stew vegetables on top.
As I was relaxing on a sunday afternoon, a somewhat crazy villager came to my house claiming that someone told him that I wanted him to climb the coconut tree and get me a bunch of coconuts.
I had no idea what he was talking about (his dialect is really thick), but he came back from my yard half an hour later with all these coconuts for me.  I <3 coconut water.
